Sharon's back!

Sharon's back at DinnerSmith busy in the kitchen creating fabulous new entrees for the fall. Look for great new dishes like Chimichurri Pork and Chicken. This sauce originated in Argentina and has spread to other parts of South America. Parsley, garlic, oil and lemon are just delicious on everything. We will be using it as a marinade and a dipping sauce. It will probably be available to purchase separately in pint containers. I think everyone needs some in their house. I mixed it with hummous the other day...oooh so good. Pita chips and humous with Chimichurri...wow!

Also on the menu will be a Puttanesca sauce with linguine. This sauce is traditionally made with calalmata olives and anchovies. I love these tangy flavors! It is a rich silky dish and it is coming in the fall when we are all ready to turn on our oven. Because it is so different and because many people fear anchovies, there will taste tests available in the near future.

Keep watching the menu as Sharon is working on so many new things for fall..

a whole new look

DinnerSmith gets a facelift!

Our building has a new landlord and he is doing a lot of work for us. No one saw the new windows and doors we got before because they were in the back. This latest upgrade is out front for all to see. This is the old storefront circa 1970.

Here is the new storefront....It only took one day but we had to dismantle the whole store. Tomorrow we will put it all back together and get back to work!! Our "real" work...helping families eat healthy delicious food every night! See whats for dinner tonight!

the hidden cost of groceries

Yet Another Way To Save At DinnerSmith

Perhaps you do it once a week.

Perhaps only when you trace those funky smells to your refrigerator’s crisper drawers. But eventually, you toss out spoiled fruits, vegetables meats and cheeses. Lots of them.

Researchers at the University of Arizona several years ago spent a year tracking families’ food-use habits. Working with the United States Department of Agriculture, they interviewed the families about their eating habits, collected their grocery receipts, watched them prepare meals, and then sifted through every last discarded lettuce leaf, slice of bread, burger and bean. The results, reported in 2002, were pretty shocking, but still bear reporting today:

The families tossed out an average of 470 pounds of food per year- about 14 percent of all food brought into the home-at an annual cost of $600!

Could you do with an extra $600?

DinnerSmith helps you manage this largely ignored family expense in arguably the most inventive and delicious fashion available. Who would have thought that saving money could ever be so easy, so delicious and so much fun?
